I searched long and hard for an electric tea kettle that boiled decently fast (7 minutes) and where there was minimal contact with anything other than or stainless steel. The plastic that I wish was not there is the rim of the lid and the hinge of the lid. Thus the steam that circulates must surely cause some contamination of the water. The only kettle I did find that had zero plastic was only 1.5 liter which is not enough to fill our 2 morning French coffee presses. so I settled for this one

I’m not usually one for smart devices, but this was the cheapest electric kettle I found that had all the functionality I was looking for: temperature set to the degree so I don’t have to watch a temperature guage, wide temperature range for all tea types, and holding the temperature for as long as I wanted. I’ve been using this kettle for over a month now, and absolutely adore it. The app as simple to set up and has been extremely convenient. It sounds dumb, but I have major depression and on days when the simplest tasks seem monumental, its nice to be able to just open an app, set a temperature, and wait in bed until I hear that little chime telling me the water is ready for steeping. Really happy with the kettle. Looks great, is a large enough size and I¡¯m happy with the different temperature options but I¡¯ve never double checked if it¡¯s correct. It¡¯s hot enough at the highest setting and perfect for different types of tea at other temperatures. Fantastic kettle! It has a very sharp design, the burner element is enclosed. Easy to clean, easy to use. I highly recommended to anyone whom is looking for a nice sinple and easy to use kettle. Boiling water for making tea, coffee or as a prep to prepare food is almost instant! I am impressed. Make sure you close the top lid all the way and do not leave unattended. The kettle will turn off after reaching boiling point but if the lid is not properly closed, the water may continue to boil.

It does boil a bit longer than I’d like it to, as I use mine just for tea and hot chocolate, but I won’t take any points for that since it does it’s thing so fast.

Update: …so, yes, just like others have reported, about a month or so after using it, it suddenly wouldn’t turn on. No light, no heat. But I’m not one to sit idly by, and accept a setback as my new reality. No, Sirree! If I’m going to throw something out, I’m going to figure out the cause of the setback so I can repair it. In this case, the first ring around the protruding pin at the center of the bottom of the carafe became rusted. The rust blocks a current between the base and the carafe, preventing the unit from working effectively. If you place the pot at a different angle (place the pot with your alternate hand, for instance), it may work. At any rate, I simply used a fine-grade sand sponge and sanded off the rust. Steel wool may work, also; but it is a very precise and microscopic job, either way. After I sanded off the rust, I blew off the rust residue and added a thin coat of coconut oil to prevent further rusting. So far, so good. I added pictures to point out the rust. As for the white spots inside the pot, that’s going to happen if you have hard water. Hey, you didn’t hear about people in the 16th century complaining about spots in their water boiler, did you? Of course not! Those lucky people didn’t have to deal with water spots, because they carried their water in from the creek and poured it in an iron kettle. I’m sure you can find an iron kettle on . I’m not sure where your closest creek is. Maybe Google Maps can show you…OR…you can buy white vinegar or just pretend the spots aren’t there.
Mild update: Since I’m correcting typos that I failed to catch earlier, I will say as of today, June 14, 2021 the coconut oil appears to be holding its own. I added a wee bit more, but the kettle hasn’t stopped or failed to start since I applied the first thin coat.
Older review: I love it! My last water boiler almost caught my house on fire, leaked and the water sloshed out of the spout. This water boiler pours very smoothly and boils 1 liter of COLD water in four minutes. I haven’t timed warm water, but I will confirm it’s going to be less than four minutes.
The blue light is ok; not as spectacular as I thought it would be. But I didn’t buy this for entertainment.
The spout strainer pulls forward, covering the spout when you close the lid. When you open the lid, it has a spring that allows the strainer to be moved down for filling water. It doesn’t stay down, but it won’t snap off when you’re trying to fill the carafe, which was its intended purpose, I believe. It IS made of metal, so you don’t have to worry about poisoning your family with seeping plastic chemicals. In fact, nothing on or in this pot that comes in contact with liquid is made of plastic. The handle and outside of the lid are plastic for the purpose of insulating you from burns. I have on occasion been forced to use a silicone potholder to support the base while pouring, but I wouldn’t remove points for that.
It does NOT have a temp control…but you CAN watch it boil and could probably judge from the water’s action and reaction when it’s the temperature for you. Over time, you be a pro and figuring the proper tea temp.
I really do like this pot, and would recommend it for my own grandmother, if she was alive to use it.
The price is good for the product. I’d baby it if I were you. You don’t know when the price will rise.
I have a heat streak. So if something does go wrong with the pot after posting this review, I will be sure to return to post the issues. For now, it’s working great!

Photos are for scale: read left side of ruler in photos and subtract 0.5 inches as items are sitting on my wooden tray.
PROS: No drip spout; 6 temperature settings; Speed to boil at 330 feet above sea level (0.5L 2m20s; 1L 4m40s; 1.5l 7m30s); water does not touch plastic ( or stainless steel only); packaged very well; simple to operate with clear instructions; blue light when on is not overly bright; and ready beep is not overly loud.
CONS: Remember to turn pot off if you don’t want to keep your water warm; lid does not open all of the way (has not been an issue for me); and unsurprisingly, condensation always remains in pot unless you dry it out (if you want a clear nice looking pot for company).
I did not test the accuracy of the temperature.
BOTTOM LINE: This pot (Model: CO117-DK) is tough to beat. At the time of this review, it is still on sale direct from for $39.99, which will be taxed, and shipping was free. Of course time will tell on durability.

I fell in love with a Turk. He brought me to Turkey. I fell in love with Turkish Tea. He told me we¡¯d be able to easily find an electric Turkish Tea pot. He was wrong. Fast forward 2 years I had enough I bought this when I saw a review saying you could take off the lid. Turkish Tea requires 2 tea pots. It hears the water super quick. I can control it from my phone. I wish it had a water sensor so it could tell me when I had to replace the water. I would gladly pay more for that feature. Otherwise it¡¯s perfect. Strongly recommend to anyone who wants a smart tea kettle. It seems like having the ability to heat tea from your phone is dumb until you have it. I will more than likely buy another one in the near future for my office.
